I'd like to dedicate this post to my family. Bunda, Yanda, and Ykha, this post is for you.

Putting up with me isn't easy, I know. The things I said and did, I wish I could take back the parts where I ever hurt your hearts. All I wanna do is make them up to you, make you happy and proud of me. Though I haven't done so much great things for you, but know that I'll keep trying to give you the best of me.

As a family, we've been through so many opsticles, yet we're still standing as one piece, no one's left behind. For that, I'm so grateful. And I'd like to let you know that no matter how hard the moments can get, I'll always have a place in my heart and save my love for you.

I am fully aware that without you in my life I could never be the person that I am now. As a mother, a father, and an older sister, you've been raising me with such amazing unconditional love. No matter what I do, I could never equally payback all the love you have given me.

I think the first time I met this smart young girl was in my early years in CosmoGIRL! when I was styling for one of the magazine's fashion show events and she was one of the models. Probably 2 to 3 years ago. That time, all I knew about her was that she's one of CosmoGIRL! of The Year 2006 finalists.

A few years later, I learned that she's a writer and also one of the founders of Indonesian Youth Conference. I also heard stories about her from a few people I know. Some are in a form of compliment, and some in a form of critic. But I never really believe what others say and always prefer to find out about a person by myself. So I read some of her blog posts and follow her tweets, which got me amazed and curious to find out how such a young lady can be so smart and inspiring that I wish I didn't waste my teenage days doing whatever I was doing back then. Man, I really need to do and fill up my head with more positive and useful things.

But, it's never too late to learn, right? So I sent her a direct message on Twitter, asking if it's okay if I interview her by email. And I just can't wait to read her answers to my questions when I got her reply today. Well, I'd like to say thank you so much to you, Alanda, for giving me answers that are motivating and heart-warming. Keep doing great things, and be strong. I'll be sending my prayers and happiness to you. Good luck for everything you do.

A lot of people see you as a very outspoken, smart, and inspiring person. How do you feel about that?

I am just an ordinary person doing the things I want to do and being with the people I want to be. It's a simple thing, really. I would feel truly honoured if people think that way about myself. Nevertheless, it is never easy to be judged by others. Not only when people misjudged you, but also even when their judgment is "too good too be true". Sometimes, I personally feel I have to live up to people's expectations and need to really watch my steps in completing the journey of life. On the other hand, when I hear people say they think that way about me, I feel very confident and motivated to keep on going. It's one of the biggest motivation I could get to face "life".

You are known as one out the founder of IYC and as a writer. Kindly tell me how did you come up with IYC and writing?

I have been in love with writing since I was able to (literally) write. In elementary school, I used to be in the majalah dindingteam, write articles and stuff. I first began in writing essays, but during junior high school, I turned to the fiction world. I wrote a novel when I was 13 and sent the manuscript to a publisher. They accepted and decided to publish it, and the rest was history. I was then given the chance to write a couple more books and articles in magazines. I feel very blessed for being able to do what I love. As for IYC, when I was 15 I started a social community working on youth empowerment called The Cure For Tomorrow. It led me to represent Indonesia in Global Changemakers Youth Summit in the UK, and I was obliged to plan and establish a project in my home country. I came up with Indonesian Youth Conference. Apparently, it became much more than a project. I formed a new family while working on it, and people loved the IYC concept so much (and have been yearning for more). Then, we decided it has to become an annual event. This year, we are going to hold the third IYC on the first week of July.

What's your next project for IYC and your books?

As I've said, IYC is going to be held again on the first week of July. Everyone can find out how to join the event by logging into www.indonesianyouthconference.org! I am going to release a book called "DreamCatcher" with Gagas Media in February, "The Journeys 2" a month after, and currently writing on a couple of more books. Wish me luck!

I see that you're a dreamer.. what's the definition of dreams to you?

Yes, I indeed am. For me, dreams are everything that keep me going. Life's tough and scary, but I think it's beautiful, especially if we are able to live up to fulfill the things we want to achieve -- our dreams. They are necessary to life.

What's your biggest dream?

My dreams kind of evolve from time to time, but there is one thing that I always want to do: to make my parents happy and grateful for having a kid like me. Amen. :)

What do you think is the biggest challenge in your life right now and how are you facing it so far?

I think the biggest challenge in my life would be to deal with my family problem. Some might have heard that my mother has been accused for crime in the Century bank case. This problem has been going on for 3 years and we have not yet found any blink of light. The case has been to politicized - making it very complicated. We are trying our best to get my mother out of this vicious cycle, although it would be very difficult to accomplish. But, well, all I can do is to always support my mother and try to find a way of being able to do tangible actions to help her. Wish me luck too on this.

I think everyone has their own ways in finding their happiness. What's yours?

I am grateful for being able to find happiness in such little things I see, encounter, and do in life. However, I think the best way to be happy is to pursue our dreams. No matter how big or small they are.

What is the one thing you want to change from this world we're living in right now?

Myself. I want to be better every single day. I think that's the best thing we could do as individuals to "change the world" and make it into a better place to live.

Name the top 3 books that you recommend to read for people, especially teens, and the reasons why you choose those books.

As a business student, most of my reads are business books, and I don't think a lot of young people are interested in reading such things. I recommend "Untuk Indonesia yang Kuat: 100 Langkah Untuk Tidak Miskin" (Ligwina Hananto) - Young people need to know how to manage their money and invest, to prepare for a brighter future. A lot of people have not yet prepared for their future financially, and I think it is such an important thing to be thought (and learned) about. Secondly, I recommend Mohammad Hatta's biography "Untuk Negeriku" - we need to be reminded of how he had done so many things in such a young age (it consists of 3 books). Last but not least, I dearly hope anyone who reads this would read my upcoming book, DreamCatcher. There will be stories from so many inspiring people and some kind of "workbook" for you to prepare yourself to pursue your dreams.

Tough question! Hmmm... I think I might as well share the songs that lift me up when I am down. It would be: Stop Crying Your Heart Out (Oasis), Safe in a Crazy World (Corrine May), Hakuna Matata (The Lion King), Blackbird (Beatles/Evan Rachel Wood), and Tomorrow's Not Promised (Frank McComb). The songs have great messages embedded on their lyrics, from reminding ourselves that the worst days will be over and tomorrow we might not live anymore (therefore we need to make the most out of today). I hope this answers the question.

The first time I enjoyed this oh-so-delicious meal was with Hellen, my best friend from college. She's the one who took me to Food Hall at Grand Indonesia, and then picked out two boneless chicken breast from the in-house butcher and order a custom menu which was this mouth-watering grilled butter lemon garlic chicken. Yes, you gotta try this one, my friend. Oh, and actually, one boneless chicken breast is more than enough for two if you add some mashed potato. Yummy!

Have you read this post from Andra Alodita's blog? Well, you should. I'm a pretty weird girl, according to the people around me. So, I guess it's only normal that silly and awkward things make me happy. Lately, these are those things.

Taking a walk alone... in the mall. And end up buying stuff I don't really need but wear happily.
Succeed cutting my own bangs in order to fulfill my obsession to have Zooey Deschanel's hairstyle. But I'm still wondering how to maintain them.
Dancing my *ss off to The Black Eyed Peas songs after jogging for two hours.
Bullying my sister. And talking her out to buy me stuff. The Puss in Boots look and the hug and kiss emoticons always works!
Kissing my Dad's cheek in the morning before work. And kissing my Mom's right before I get off the car when she drops me off for work. Wait, that's not silly nor awkward. Oh well.
Asking unimportant questions to The Book of Answers which I borrowed from Dina, my Graphic Designer friend from office. You know, questions like: is there going to be someone who's willing to treat me for some lunch today? And the answer I got was: be flexible. Oh, and yes I did asked the book what would happened if I married the guys I've dated. One of the answers I got from those questions was: you'll regret it. What's up with that? Ha-ha.
Bugging my friends by sending stupid emoticons to their phone.
Wondering why my boss and I get along so well. Pointless. I think we're just insane. But she's more insane than me, ofcourse. Obviously.

On New Year's Eve, I accompanied my Mom to attend her bestfriend's party where they had these white gas balloons and the guests can write their wishes on them. This was my balloon. At 12 o'clock, we all floated the balloons up to the sky. This experience was new for me and I loved it. But the thing that made my New Year's Eve turned unforgettable was when Cresna rang me to say happy new year and sending his best wishes to both of us. I do cherish the happiness he brings me these last months. Hope everything will turn out great and for the best.

This Jessie J's new single, Domino and its video sparks me up! Personally, I find Jessie J's fashion sense super fun. From those popping pattern outfits, the colorful hair, the fringe, leopard prints, studs, to the glittery lips she's rocking. Can you spot other trends she's wearing in this video? I have a very wild dream of dressing to the extreme like the her, but eerrr.. I'm really just looking for the right occasion, which maybe will never come *sigh*.

Anyway, I actually really love her previous album, Who You Are. At first, my favorite tracks were Abracadabra, L.O.V.E, Who You Are, Price Tag, and Nobody's Perfect. But as I listen more and more to all of her songs, I fell in love with all them. I think the lyrics of her songs have positive messages, such as the importance of being our own person and living our dream that I get from this video below, Who You Are. Well, I'm not going to bore you with my review on this album, because this article does its best at describing the album. I'm sooo.. looking forward to hear out her next album. NEW YEAR'S EVE

People celebrate new year's eve in different ways. Some stay at home, letting the moment pass by, treating it like any other night. Some spend their time with their family. Some party hard and drink booze with their friends. Some take their time to pray. And of course, there are so many other ways in celebrating new year's eve. Either ways are absolutely fine as long as nobody's getting hurt. Agree?

I admit that every year I've been through I've done bad stuff, made lots of mistakes. But every year, I've also developed my good sides and made the right decisions. Well, I guess every year had its best and worst times. On the last day of this year, I'd like to write the top 3 lessons I learned while getting through 2011.

#1 We are the source of our own happiness and sadness

This is for sure the most important lesson I adopt this year. I saw people who had great things going on around them but still feeling like they are having the worst time, blaming themselves or other people (or both) for the pain they suffer, and I've been around people who were having the hardest problems but managed to keep smiling, enjoying their lives, and spreading love to their surroundings. It's clear to me now that our happiness is in our own hands. It's not supposed to be controled by our life situations. Good incidents can be good incidents, bad incidents can be turned into good incidents, as long as we see them through a positive point of view and act wisely in handling them. Let's wear that 'happy-and-positive-things-spotter-glasses' to create our own happiness, shall we?

#2 We must first love ourselves before we expect to be loved by others

Think about what kind of person we would love. Be that person. The way I see it, if we keep telling ourselves (or others) that we are not lovable or acting like a person who we think is not love worthy then nobody will love us. How do we make ourselves feel lovable and love worthy? Love our own lives, be comfortable in our own skin, do the things we love, and spread love around us. I really love seeing people who are loving their lives, living them happily and being true to themselves. So I decided, that is how I want to be in order to make myself feel lovable and after that, to make people love me.

#3 People might hurt us, but don't fall to the temptation of hating them or trying to hurt them back

Trying to hurt back people who hurt us and hating people is a BIG waste of time. Trust me, there are times when I tried both of them, and end up hurting myself even more. That is why keeping hatred isn't really my thing. I like that about myself, but I didn't like what used to helped me kicked the hatred away easily, which was: I used to just wish that karma will hunt down the ones who hurt me. Yup, I used to trust all my revenge intentions to karma, which (finally, thank God) I think is unneccessary now. This year, I just let it go. Instead, I prayed that lovely things will happen to the people who hurt me, because hey.. what doesn't kill us only makes us stronger. And they didn't kill me, did they? In fact, they actually helped me to be a stronger person. Therefore, I should thank them, and pray for them. And it is AMAZING how that worked wonders. No more hate, only happiness.

It was Monday afternoon when I received a package at my office. I thought it was the magazines I ordered. But when I slowly tore the packaging, I found out it was a super cute journal with pretty hand stitching and bow prints on it's cover. The journal was something that would catch my eye immediately if ever see it in a shop. At first, I thought some shop sent their product for me to try, because that happens when you work in the media. As I was looking inside the journal, there they were.. two cards, one had this sweet words and illustrations printed on it, and the other was handwritten. Turned out, my baby sent me a package through his good friend who was visiting one of his friends in Birmingham. No words can describe how amazing and wonderful the feeling I had when I read those cards. Thank you for the overflowing happiness you bring, Cresna. Looking forward to our lovely journey together. Love you!

In this life, I learned that things can change in a blink of an eye, unexpected things can happen, good and bad stuff comes and goes, and I'm just here to take them one by one, or all at the same time. To deal with all these things, I think the only thing I need to do is listen to what my heart is telling me. It might lead me to something good, it might lead me to something bad. People might not be happy with my decision on how to deal with the situation, but the only one who knows the best for me is myself. Life keeps sending me surprises in different forms and it's really exciting to find out the life lessons behind them all. I think that's what life is all about, a never ending learning process. And this time, I learned that I've found the perfect person to give my heart to, in a perfect shape. Surprise, surprise.

A VERY LONG WEEKEND

My good old friend, Anto (well JMono for everyone else), made this really great mini album, A Very Long Weekend, that you just have to listen (download here). You just have to! I especially love the song Tidur. Actually, as I'm writing this post, I'm listening to the song, putting it on repeat mode, and each time it goes on it never fail to make me smile. I myself is having my own 'very long weekend' these 5 months and it's still going. And I think, I've never been this happy before in my whole life. The thing is, I never thought it is possible for me to achieve happiness as a single fighter since I'm used to being in a relationship for 9 years non-stop. What was I thinking? 9 years non-stop *sigh*. I should really give myself a decent break back then. But surely I'm not saying those relationships were not fun. They were lovely and definitely good memories, and I wouldn't change anything if I could go back in time (well, maybe just this one thing, but I'm keeping it for myself). Anyway, when finally happiness strikes me as who and what I am, a single lady that is, these 5 months, it's like an awakening. Nothing is impossible. I can choose to be happy, no matter what. And yes you may laugh at me, because I know there are lots of people out there who are living a happy single life and it's never a big deal for them. And yup, there are so much more important stuff in life than this, but it is a big deal for me and I'm grateful for it *big big big smile*. But nope, this doesn't mean I'm not looking forward to fall in love again. That time will eventually come, but while this time lasts I'm going to cherish it with all my heart. And dear Anto, if you're reading this, I want you to know that you're special and you have so much people rooting for you including me, so be happy for that. You're a winner.

This October, CosmoGIRL! Indonesia is having its 10th anniversary. That made me realized that 4 out of 10 years of the magazine's age, I've been giving my love to this magazine. I can't say thank you enough for the people who gave me the chance to work on this magazine. I guess it's true that we should cherish even the most little things that happened in our lives, because it is very possible that one day we're going to find out that those little things got us where we are today, where we exactly need (even better, want) to be.

I started making articles for CosmoGIRL! Indonesia as a fashion reporter intern. And now, here I am as the Managing Editor, a position that I can proudly say I earned by loving what I do, with the blessing from God, ofcourse. Though sometimes I have a love hate relationship with this magazine, I must admit that the experiences I had and still getting are absolutely priceless. I see people come and go, complaining that they're not getting enough money from working for a magazine. I think the reason I'm still here is because I never really think about the 'number', only the happiness I get when my articles got published, the cover image I chose were printed, and the readers sent emails saying how much they loved our work. Still, I can't say that I'm an expert in running a magazine yet. I am sooooo far from that. I still make mistakes, and continuosly trying to learn so much more to be better, and hoping that when the right time comes I will be good enough to be the Editor In Chief for this magazine, just like this really amazing person I know who used to be one.

I do have other dreams that I'd like to chase. They are still dancing in my heart and head, sometimes they try to kick away the dreams I have for this magazine. I have faith that I will make all my dreams come true someday. But for now, I'll be giving my best to make this dream come true: to be the Editor In Chief of CosmoGIRL! Indonesia.

Can't wait to follow Zooey Deschanel's newest series, The New Girl. I'm not being self-centered but I think the craziness of her character in this series is inspired by me (okay that really sounds like I'm really self-centered). But seriously, I dig the main character, Jess, since it was told in the story that she just broke up with her boyfriend. I myself just got back into the single scene after about 9 years non-stop being in an ever-changing relationships (don't know if that's good or bad). So, this is sort of a new thing for me and I'm still learning how to be okay with being single. So far? I suck. But in between the sadness I'm feeling for having no boyfriend (oh, just slap me already), there's that unique excitement of waiting what's coming up next in my life (and I'm not just talking about guys here). And the good thing is, this situate got me closer to my family and friends, and I realize how much I need to spend more time with them. I guess it's somehow like Jess is with her new life in The New Girl. Watch the other trailers here and enjoy the series.

Whenever I'm going through a hard time in my life and happiness seems so far away, I have my own ways to turn things around and make myself feel better. Here they are.

Play that soothing songs from my favorite artists. Lately, I've been listening to Giorgio Tuma's My Vocalese Fun Fair album.

Dress up. Pick out that outfit that always flatters my body and skin tone, put on that fresh looking barely there makeup. Et voila! Just like that, and I will feel like Pharell Williams and Robin Thicke wrote this song just for me. *blushing*

Send some sweet words to my friends on Twitter or messenger. A simple, "Good morning!" or, "Happy working!" reply can turn my cloudy morning into a one fine day.

Browse through an interior design blog to steal some ideas that I can apply to my room. My favorite would be designsponge.

Capture lovely pretty things with my camera.

Treat myself by eating my favorite meal, buy a magazine, a book, a fashion item, or other stuff. It depends on the budget that I have at the time, ofcourse.

Save inspiring images from weheartit.

Watch this video on YouTube. It might not work for everyone, but it sure has that hypnotizing effect on me. It's like telling me, "You're so happy! You're so happy!" LOL.

Last but definitely not least, praying always works for me. No matter how hard it gets, no matter if things doesn't turn out the way I want it to be, no matter how sad the situation could be, when I pray it seems my problems just got easier and I feel a little lighter. After that, I'll have more energy to face whatever life brings me.

I bet most of us have been through this kind of situation. Found someone who seems really great, fell in love, thought it was something real, but in the end that someone totally screwed up and blew it. Well, if it hurts that much and you need to shed a tear or two, go on and do it. But don't take too long. If he or she is really not worth it, it's a good thing you figure that out now than later. Hear this song, The Best Thing I Never Had, from Beyonce, and you'll feel like the luckiest person in this world, like you just dodged a bullet.

You know broken hearts can always be fixed. Eventually you'll find someone else, someone who will appreciate you more. But if you're still in love with this person after the disappointments he or she puts you through, it's okay to hold onto that feeling. It doesn't mean you're stupid. It only means you're brave enough to be honest to yourself. After all, you know there are only two things that could happen, you mitt get your heart broken again(which like I said, can always be fixed) or you might get your happy ending. Just remember, there's a 'good' in goodbye. So don't be afraid of goodbyes. I learned this lesson from my own experience.

I promise myself, I will...

Pray more and more. Not just for myself, especially for my parents and sister, and the one who just got his way into my heart, also my best friends and friends. And I won't forget to pray for those who have rubbed off their good side on me, though we won't be walking side by side for the rest our lives, everything was worth the time and I realize that I won't be who I am now without them.

Control my ego. I love making necklaces, sketching clothes design, photography, and yes I did thought it would be lovely to just do those things that I'm passionate about. But I worked hard to get my position in the magazine, and I actually did that with love and passion too. Sometimes I just forgot about how much love I have for my job and how it actually shaped me. This job got me the money to pay for my food and medicines. This job got me the money to buy presents for my mom. This job got me great friends. This job got me a lovable boss who is also one of my best friends now. But the most important thing which I sometimes forgot how much I value it is, this job gave me a voice to speak to the young girls all over Indonesia, to help them get through their teen years. Having the chance to tell them the things I knew now that I wish I knew when I was their age feels amazing. So, I just wanna be thankful for what I have now, and stop with the I want this and I want that. I already have so much, and so much is too precious to give up.

Love like I've never been hurt. Nope, I'm not saying I was hurt. I'm saying I refuse to be afraid of showing my true feelings just because I don't want to get hurt. Life is too short to hold back the feelings we should've expressed. I'd rather regret expressing my love than blaming myself because of holding it back. If things are meant to be, they will be. But if it has to end, at least I know that I already put my best into it and regrets aren't necessary. After all, I believe God has the best plans for everyone.Last but not least, I'm sending prayers to my Opa in Manado. I love and miss him so much, and hopefully I get the chance to spend my holiday sitting beside him. Please, please stay healthy, Opa.

I just immediately fell in love with the brand Dreamers & Believers by Stacia Hadiutomo and Dinta Jakile the first time I found their blog. What's not to love about accessories with pompoms? So, I just have to interview them for CosmoGIRL! Indonesia magazine. For those of you who missed their interview on the magazine, you can read it here. Thank you, Stacia and Dinta!

The first collection of Dreamers & Believers was marked with pompoms which I read from one of the interview in your blog that you girls use them because you are inspired by Goldfrapp’s style. So, how is it related to the items' names and the lookbook which are inspired by Alice In Wonderland?

Dinta: We went to see Goldfrapp’s concert and it just blew our mind. She was wearing this lovely dress with pompoms on it. That’s where we got our first inspiration on using pompoms in our collection.

Stac: We both are obsessed with witty and quirky stories such as Alice and all her adventures in Wonderland. One day we were having tea, talking about our theme, it just popped. It was just a random idea and Mad Hatter was just a perfect image to characterized this season.

It’s very refreshing to see your adorable concept- the jewellery, the photoshoot- when a lot of labels are racing to make a monochromatic world of fashion with an edgy vibe. But if other labels are already making something that you’re planning to do, what do you think your first collection’s going to be like?

D & S: It’s going to be exactly what it was like. Full of colours and dreamy mood. We believe in creativity and open mindedness. We believe in dreams and obsessions. We believe in ourselves and what we’re doing. We adore inventors and creative minds. We admire lots of the new Indonesian designers. It’s good to see the varieties going on at the moment.

For this first collection, who are the people or maybe animals or robots you imagine would wear your jewelleries?

D & S: “Where The Wild Things Are” crew. Imagine Carol and his friends wearing huge pompoms, running and being free. Awesomeness. We can also make Max his own crown full of pompom madness.

Stac: If it’s a person, I would love to work with Catherine Baba

Dinta: Yukinori Maeda

It is possible that you girls will inspire our readers to start their own business, making jewelleries. Do you have any tips for them? What to do first? How to sell your items in a strategic way?

Dinta: It started simply by sharing the same interest of all things nice and artistics. We’re a story-teller, a jewellery maker, a collector, a dreamer.

Stac: We pretty much do everything together. Dinta used to study jewellery design, so she’s more of an expert.. My background is in graphic design, so I did more in the graphic sides. We learn a lot from each other. There’s a good combination here.

D & S: We’re still learning, so the best tips we can give is just to believe in what you are doing, find a good partner to work with, because we believe a good chemistry is important, and never forget the fun part! What we’ve also learned, it’s always good to go out there and meet new inspiring people, built a huge networking. Don’t be shy to promote your products. Publicity is also important so just send lots of emails of your works.

Are you going to make anything else other than jewelleries, or is it still a secret?

Dinta: The first collection was a teaser to introduce our design collective. But the response went pretty well so we decided to extend the collection. And we just can’t get enough of these pompoms! So wait for the next collection! And what’s next after that? We got a long of lists to choose from.

What is the biggest dream you girls have in mind for Dreamers & Believers?

Stac: To keep doing what we like and people keep enjoying what we do. A solo exhibition/installation for our artworks would be superb. To work with the people who inspire us. To keep working together and produce more interesting pieces that would inspire people. Go around the world and eat a meter stick of macaroons.

If (pick one artist) Bjork/Goldfrapp/Bat For Lashes/Zooey Deschanel/Karen O requested you to make a jewelry for her, what would the jewellery look like? (it’s even more cooler if you girls can answer this question by drawing the
design and send it to me)

D & S: We would make something that suits their personality while still maintaing our own style. We would probably make the pompoms super huge. It would be more of an artwork and a jewellery statement than just a necklace. If have we to choose one, we’ll make bjork a full on body pompoms.

But that doesn't stop me from wanting to interview her, since I had fell in love with her vintage beauty the first time I saw her photograph on The Sartorialist. Can you tell me abit about your background?

I'm an art history student, and I also study 19th century history.

I say: That explains all the writings about art history on your blog. I bet you're a straight A student.

What's makes you start your blog?

I wanted to share my own world and influences.

I say: And you're good at it. I'm so inspired :)

Your photographs are really beautiful. Who's your photographer?

It depends, there are few photographers who take my pictures, and we make a different work every time. I keep the same universe, but I like the pictures to be different and various.

I say: I checked out the photographers. Pauline Darley, Chloé Le Drezen, Liora Basse, Cherry Blossom Girl, Alexandra Chalaud, Face Critic, and Trendy Crew (check out more photographers who took her photos on her site) took really great shots of you!

What do you do besides college and blogging?

I'm a DJ.

I say: Am I the last person who just found out about that? I'd like to hear you spin.

I love your new website! What makes you want to make a new one? Did you made it yourself?

I wanted a new one so it could be my own, with a much more personal design. A friend of mine did it, she's very talented, and she guessed exactly what I wanted.

I say: It suits you well, my dear!

Who are your style inspiration?

My style is inspired by everything around me, from art to music. The most important thing is that it has to be a reflection of my tastes and my personality. It shows who I am.

What's your daily read?

Books about the way people lived in 19th century, but also books about art, occult, and music. And i am currently reading Le Jardin des supplices by Octave Mirbeau.

What's your favorite book?

I don't have on favourite, I can't choose. But I really love Gone With The Wind because I am fascinated about the civil war, and the way women lived in the 19th century. And also because Scarlett is an amazing character, very powerful for the times.

So, do you take your daily outfit pics everyday?

No, only once or twice a week.

Have blogging take you to a lot of places?

Yes, and it's difficult, because I also have a lot of work with my studies. But I can't choose, I want to do both !

Do you get invited to fashion week and fashion shows?

It depends because in France they don't invite bloggers that much, it's like we still don't exist for most of the designers. But when I'm invited, I love to go to the shows!

I say: Oh, my! I miss attending fashion shows here. I get butterflies when I see fashion shows. Only when I see the good ones though.

What's your favorite fashion items?

My top hat, and my faux fur coats, very 70's.

I say: They're crazy cute.

What items have you been craving for?

A black cape.

I say: I always kinda thought you are a witch deep down inside. That's a compliment!

Have you ever consider making your own clothing line? What would it be like?

No, because I'm not a creative person apart from my clothes. And i think that it would be too much like my style so it might not be interesting.

I say: Hey, you'll never know until you try it. Why wouldn't people be interested in buying items which are created by you? I mean, you do have a pretty big name for a fashion blogger.

You're French, right? What would you say about the way French people dress?

Yes, I am. French style is very classic, and not excentric at all, which I don't like. But I like it because it's very graphic, powerful and at the same time simple.

How are you expecting fashion in the future would be like?

I have no idea, but I hope I'll still have something to do with fashion in the future.

What's your favorite shop?

Vintage shops.

I say: Vintage shops got hidden treasures.

What's your favorite brand?

Do you know how it feels like to pick things out of a brain that is owned by the person that inspires you? Well, I do. Grin. The very first time I really wanted to start my own blog was after I read this girl's blog-read my post earlier about her blog here-that is...I can't really describe it, it's just so good to me. So, it's only relevant that I choose her to be the first person interviewed on my blog. Besides, whoever said famous people are the only worth brain-picking objects obviously never met ordinary people who are actually extra ordinary. And famous people used to be those extra ordinary people who used to be judged as ordinary.

Well, what makes me keep craving for this blog is, I think it can really tells a story about this girl's life, her interests, her style, and it made me really want to be her friend, 'cos she seems like this nice girl who will be your fun loving friend and up to be your partner in crimes, who is not afraid to be herself, not trying too hard, plus I don't know why, she always always posts things that meet my interests. Enough of my reasons, I'll let you people make your opinions. So, here it is, Raych Nguyen of THAT'S CHIC in her own words. And I can't help to write my responses to her answers.

Question: What's the story with you and your blog? How did you start it, what motivated you, and how do you react to the huge responses that you get?

Well, it first started of very magazine-oriented. I started to post outfit shots once I got that idea from Susie Bubble (of Style Bubble), and it just kind of started from there. I appreciate everyone’s response but really have no particular reaction to it.

I say: Susie has a kickin' wardrobe collection, but I still love your blog more, Raych. Other than the smile-inviting content, it actually makes my eyes happy. Well-polished. Not perfect ('cos I dislike things that look perfect), but well-polished!)

Question: If one day you got bored of blogging, what would you do?

Probably still do what I’m doing now, except watch more TV. I have friends who are a TV junkie; I am a computer/internet junkie. But I’d need a new hobby, and maybe something less expensive… like skydiving.

I say: Why not? Skydiving with your ultimate stylish look, I'd love to see that.

Question: What fashion item, food, and body treatment are you craving for right now?

A white Mongolian fur vest. Always craving a good watermelon. I’ve been wanting to try a Brazilian wax for a while but have literally chickened out everytime.

I say: Brazilian wax sure is scary. Bleh. Watermelons do worth craving for, especially in my country where the weather is extra warm. Really, I can dry my just washed clothes out in the sun in only two hours.

Question: Can I steal your shoes? Okay, maybe not. Tell me about your relationship with shoes and since when did you start collecting them? Which are your current favorite?

I’ve always been a shoe girl – it really starts an outfit off. I never noticed that my shoes could be a collection, but I started collecting designer shoes about 2 years ago. My favorite are a pair of Chloe from Spring 2008. My boyfriend bought them for me, and they are perfect for me. It’s hard to top off such a beauty.

I say: A shout to my boyfriend...you wanna buy me shoes? Okay, baby, I'll wait until you get your bonus. Just kidding, sweetie...unless you actually do want to buy me some shoes. Smooch Smooch!

Question: Is there any style/fashion item that you love to death but not brave enough to wear? Please explain..

Anything Comme des Garçons or Rick Owens, but it’s more because I can’t afford it.

I say: Yes, it sucks when we can't afford things we love. I feel you.

Question: What would be the soundtrack of your life?

Hard. A tie between The Smiths – There is a Light that Never Goes Out and Out hud – It’s For You.

I say: I bet you forgot to mention: Crocs.

Which cartoon character do you think have the most fashionable look?

I’ve always loved Sailor Moon. Brings back such great memories.

I say: Then you can compete with me singing the opening theme song of the cartoon, yes? Errr...on second thought, not really, 'cos I can only sing the bahasa version.

What's the worst look you ever wear, when was it?

I went through an Abercrombie and Fitch phase, but I am woman enough to admit it now.

Who's your fashion muse and why?

I love Taylor Tomasi from Teen Vogue. She can layer an outfit for days.

I say: I envy her red hair. Fits her well.

If you can live anywhere other than where you are living now, where would you choose and why?

It’s cliché that I love living in Orange County, but I wouldn’t mind living in San Francisco or anywhere is South America for a couple of years.

The best things in life for you are:

Savory meals, family, my boyfriend, the Internet, and my life. I wouldn’t have anything any other way.

I say: Lovely.

The happiest day in your life would be the day you:

Spend a day with my boyfriend at a street flea market taking tons of pictures, discover a new favorite eatery, get gelato after, meet up with my family for a homemade dinner, and then spend the rest of the night on the couch watching TV to make fun of people.

I say: I love these things too, now if only the flea market here aren't so full of 'copet' aka pickpockets.

What make up look you would rather cry than try and why?

I am down to try anything.

I say: Wanna experiment make up looks with me? I swear I can be a really good make up artist if only I can afford to buy all the tools and stuff.

What's your 'always work' outfit when you're bored of the other outfits?

A throw on dress and a killer pair of shoes –throw on bracelets, rings, and belts at random for a hopeful masterpiece.

I say: With your stuff and your look, I bet anything would work.

Question: You're vision of the future fashion trend would be:

I don’t know, but I hope it has nothing to do with this 90’s grunge revival.

I say: As long as there's an improvement, comeback fashion trends are good for me :)

What's your guilty pleasure?

I’m in school right now getting my BA in business then venturing to get my masters. We’ll see from there.
